Since time
immemorial, Varanasi, the most ancient living city in the world and the
cultural capital of India peninsula has evolved as a sacred seat of learning
and knowledge. Varanasi has always upheld its educational excellence and
presently the city has grown into a proud possessor of three full fledged
universities, two deemed universities, two autonomous colleges and more than a
dozen of post graduate and degree colleges imparting higher education to
thousands of students from across the country and abroad. In this galaxy of
educational institutions, Sri Agrasen Kanya Autonomous P.G. College has shined
as a bright star of knowledge spreading exclusively for girls in Purvanchal
region.
The
college came into being as first footstep of a great educational journey on 3rd
November 1973. Since its inception it has been imparting value based education
to the young females. It is s premier, multi-faculty institution with highly
qualified academicians imparting quality education in their respective fields.
The college today enjoys high reputation for its outstanding performance in
academics and extra curricular activities.
A
sapling started in six rooms, with 12 students and four subjects at
undergraduate level in 1973, has bloomed into a Banian tree of knowledge
imparting post graduate education in arts, social science, science and home
science and under graduate education in commerce to over 6000 students with
the help of about 200 staff. The college in its two huge campuses, two rich
libraries, many well equipped laboratories, hostel, canteens, well established
computer center, gymnasium, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, centers for
social services, cultural activities and separate faculty buildings to educate
the students from urban.
In the
last three decades of progressive evolvement the college has aimed at offering
students with the best possible learning experience while they work towards
their degree courses. The college has always focused on achieving all round
growth of its students and has strived hard to bring out the best in every
student. It is to realise the committed and dedicated efforts made to
improvise the standard of woman education in the Purvanchal region the college
was accorded the autonomous status in 2001.
Another feather was
added in its cap when the college was accredited Grade ‘A’ by NAAC (National
Assessment and accreditation Council, Banglore) in the year 2005. Today the
college occupies a unique position in the field of education, sports and
cultural activities and is marked for its good discipline.
